Make no mistake, the porn industry is under attack. Visa/Mastercard pulling their financial services from Pornhub is going to severely impact the livelihoods of independent content creators across our industry—and we can’t expect it to stop with Pornhub.

Anyone who has been working in the adult industry for any length of time will tell you that sex workers have always had issues processing payments, from having their cash apps closed, to having their bank accounts shut down and their funds seized. The Pornhub news is just one more assault on an already marginalized population.

But in the words of Mary Moody, “The only thing that matters are stories, no one cares about statistics and facts.”

As a community, we need to ban together to tell our stories, to show the world that when sex workers talk about payment processing and tube sites it isn’t abstract; we are talking about our livelihoods—our ability to keep a roof over our head and our families fed.
